I remember a pivotal moment in my journey when I stood before Ricardo, a shaman with wise, deep eyes. Before the ceremonies, he would say to me, "If you want me to heal you, you must first tell me what you want me to release. I see so much to cleanse within you, but unless you are aware of it and can express a clear request, it is pointless for me to do anything because it will return. So, what do you want me to release?" These words resonated within me, often leaving me speechless, lost in the labyrinth of my thoughts, hesitant to face my inner truths. It was a long journey of light and shadow to identify what I needed to release. Today, I am grateful to Ricardo for teaching me to dive deep within myself and understand that, as the Hopis say, to welcome a new dream, one must first release the old and make space.
The importance of releasing to welcome: A Hopi perspective
In Hopi tradition, wisdom teaches that to embrace a new dream, one must first let go of the old. Before receiving a healing, it is essential to prepare the mind and body to release what no longer serves us. Whether it’s emotional blockages, physical pain, or old beliefs, healing can only occur fully when we commit to making space for renewal.
Misconceptions about healing and healers
It is common for Westerners to approach a healing with the idea that everything will happen like magic, that the healer will do all the work. These expectations, often tinted by misconceptions, can lead us to believe that healing is a unilateral act. However, the reality is much more complex: it is an essential cooperation between the patient and the healer. Each party has a role to play. The healer offers their expertise, listening, and guidance, but transformation also requires the patient’s commitment. This involves trusting the healer and entering the process with the sincere intention to release what no longer serves us.
Why the release of emotional blockages is essential in a healing session
Emotional blockages often manifest as tension, physical pain, or repressed emotions. They can also lead to mental fatigue and repetitive behaviors. Recognizing these blockages is the first step toward their release. It is by becoming aware of their presence that we can transform them and regain our inner balance.
Fully committing to your healing: An act of consciousness
Receiving a healing goes far beyond a simple passive experience. It is a conscious commitment to let go of old energies and emotional blockages that weigh us down. Too often, we arrive at a healing session without truly being ready to take that step. Letting go is an act of trust, both in ourselves and in the healing process. For a healing to truly transform us, it is necessary to enter the process with a clear intention to release what no longer serves us. By accepting to release old patterns and emotions, we open ourselves to the possibility of transformation and rebirth.
Preparing internally: How to engage in the release
Preparation before a healing can greatly facilitate the release of emotional and energetic blockages. This may include simple rituals such as meditation, introspection, or the use of medicinal plants and flower essences. These practices open the body’s energy channels and prepare the ground for a deeper, more transformative healing.
Effects after the release of emotional blockages
After releasing an emotional blockage, it is common to feel a sense of lightness, mental clarity, or even face unexpected challenges. These reactions are integral to the healing process. Healings can trigger profound transformations, and it is important to remain open to these experiences, whether they are comfortable or not.
